Zrubavel is the first feature-length Israeli drama created by Ethiopian-Israeli filmmaker Shmuel Beru. It is the universal story of an immigrant family trying to preserve their heritage in a new land where they are viewed as outsiders. The film focuses on a multigenerational family of Ethiopian émigrés torn between love for homeland and assimilation within Israeli culture. The family elders have their own plans for their children-- until a chain of events ignites a clash of generations.
Winner Best Film Award at the 2008 Haifa International Film Festival.
